Just another cold day

OK, so from the profile picture and from the number of sites dedicated, you can tell i'm a Trekkie. I have been since I was born, almost. Can't wait for the Sequel to JJ. Abrams recent STAR TREK blockbuster.

They tell us the date has been set for June 29th, 2012, but it's early days yet, they haven't even submitted the script yet. Amongst Trekkies there's much debate as to which way they should go with the next story, do they base it on a character from the original story, such as Khan, or do they go for an original Alien entity type story.

Trekkies prefer them to stay away from the best baddie Khan, but they didn't want them to change the original cast or the time-line in their latest film, but they did, to outstanding success. I for one would like to see them go back to Khan, in the alternate time-line, perhaps even telling the story from before he left earth in the Botany Bay, until he's awoken by the crew of the USS Enterprise......

So we will have to wait and see. Anyway for all the latest news there's no better site than the unofficial fan website: Trekmovie.com

Although Unofficial, since CBS and Paramount closed the Official Star Trek Web-site, Trekmovie.com has the best Star Trek sources around the world and the sites creator has been recognised across the US for his work in relation to his love and the promotion of STAR TREK.

Even the recently successful STAR TREK film screenwriters regularly chat to fans across the world collecting views and interacting from this site.

Anyway back to reality, here in the UK, its been freezing this last week. We've had the worst snow in 30-50 years covering the whole country. 24 have died from weather related incidents and ice / snow has played havoc with public transport, schools, refuge collection and just plain walking the streets can be tricky.

Of course the kids love it, throwing snowballs at everyone and getting time off school.
It can be dangerous though. Two teenagers a couple of days ago ventured out onto a lake and fell through. Unfortunately although others nearby tried to rescue them, they failed, and they died.

How many times do we have to be warned of the dangers of walking on frozen rivers, canals, lakes, and yet still, even here in Warwick we still have idiots that are willing to risk their lives!

Today, more snow is forecast, but only on the light side, here in Warwick, but 15-20cms in other parts of the country. The day has started warmer than recent, but weather warnings are still out.
